What does a commissioning authority do?
A Commissioning Authority (CxA) leads an evidence-based process that checks whether building systems reflect the owner’s requirements, are installed as intended, operate through testing, and are documented for handover.
Is commissioning the same as inspection?
No. Inspection observes installation or workmanship at a point in time. Commissioning follows performance requirements across design, construction, testing, training, and closeout, then records what was verified and what remains open.
When should a CxA be appointed?
Ideally during pre-design or early design, while performance requirements and responsibilities can still shape the project. AJTcx can also join during construction, testing, or handover with a focused scope.
How does TAB support commissioning?
