What is functional performance testing?
Functional performance testing is a defined, scenario-based activity that observes or measures whether systems and sequences respond as required under agreed conditions.

Test the sequence, not only the equipment
Functional testing is often concerned with what happens when systems interact: starts, stops, alarms, safeties, changes of mode, controls response, and recovery conditions.
Agree the conditions first
A useful test identifies the required response, preconditions, who participates, what will be observed or measured, and how the result will be recorded before the test begins.
Record what happened
The output is not simply a pass or fail label. It is a traceable record of the scenario, results, identified issues, responsibility, and resolution path.
