AJTcx CxA insight
When should a CxA be appointed?
A CxA is ideally appointed during pre-design or early design, when performance requirements and responsibilities can still influence the project. A focused CxA scope can also add value during construction, testing, or handover.

Early appointment has more leverage
Early involvement gives the CxA time to help clarify the owner’s project requirements, define responsibilities, review design intent, and shape a commissioning plan before the project’s decisions become difficult to change.
Later appointment can still be useful
When a project is already in construction or closeout, the scope can focus on the evidence that is missing: installation checks, start-up records, functional tests, issue resolution, training, or final documentation.
Choose the engagement point deliberately
The right question is not only “is it too late?” It is “what does the project need to prove now, and what evidence can still be gathered?”
